Unidentified Creature: Panama Teens Discover Alien-Like Animal

1… 2… 3… Go! You can all throw your opinions now! :)

Ps: the video is in the HuffingtonPost website.

Four teenagers in Panama claim they encountered a creature that was photographed, dead on a rock.

It appears to have an animal-like head, but a strange body with skinny, human like arms. Some say it’s an alien while others say it’s an animal that’s never been seen before.

The teens said, the creature was alive when they found it and it started coming after them, so they threw rocks and sticks at it, killing it.

Zoologists in Panama said they’re not sure what it is, but it appears to be a dead fetus of some kind.

UPDATE: Darren Naish of ScienceBlogs.com says the creature is “very obviously” a sloth, though he has a difficult time explaining its hairless torso and head.

Trapped girls raised alarm on Facebook

Now come on, it is a nice story and everything but as said, if they had access to facebook, why not just dial 000 for the Fire Service? Endangering their lives just for a story to tell their friends?

The South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) says it is worrying that two girls lost last night in a stormwater drain raised the alert on a social networking site rather than ringing 000.

The 10 and 12-year-old girls updated a Facebook status to say they were lost in a drain on Honeypot Road at Hackham in Adelaide’s south.

Glenn Benham from the MFS says it was fortunate a young male friend was online at the time and was able to call for help on their behalf.

“It is a worry for us because it causes a delay on us being able to rescue the girls,” he said.

“If they were able to access Facebook from their mobile phones, they could have called 000, so the point being they could have called us directly and we could have got there quicker than relying on someone being online and replying to them and eventually having to call us via 000 anyway.”

Moonbell: Transforming Moon’s topography into music

Freaking awesome!
Playing with the preferences can reproduce some sounds that pretty much ressembles the old cartoons or old video games. Pretty nice. :D

Yes, it’s a fairly bizarre concept — take data from Japan’s Kaguya explorer as it orbited the moon between 2007 and 2009 and then assign musical notes and instruments to that data.

Sadly, it’s a Java applet (sorry, I have a thing about avoiding Java unless it’s absolutely necessary) but it’s still definitely worth a look. You can tweak a number of parameters to get the sort of effect you want.

Research says: Single men prefer fat women

Amplifyd from datedaily.com
Single men prefer fat women

In a time when all women are struggling with their weight and dying to look like the size 2s spotted in every men’s magazine, it seems that single men, 85% of them, prefer the fat women.

Some might say it’s because that may be their only option, but men say they like a little meat on their bones. Now perhaps I’m out of line here, but there is a middle ground somewhere.

According to Date.com 85% of single men would date “heavy” women, but 90% of single women feel that men can’t see past a few extra pounds they’ve gained.

What exactly does “heavy” mean anyway, because that’s what the women are called in the survey. Is “heavy” 10 pounds overweight, or is it “Beluga whale” overweight? There’s a difference.

And from the 20 men we surveyed, only one said he wouldn’t mind a “heavy” woman. The rest want their women to be fit.

The thing is, 80% of men who want the fat women claim that thin women are bitchy. Also, the men thought that fat women appreciate the attention more.

Well, I myself wouldn’t say fat, but indeed, a little “meat” is always nice, however that doesn’t mean that thin girls are out of the play. :)

Aug 18 2009Mom, Where Do Video Games Come From?

game-factory-1.jpg

This is a little gallery of photographs by Marc Da Cunha Lopes showing the factories where video games come from. This photo here is the factory where Tetris blocks are manufactured, but if you hit the jump you’ll see (in this order) the Sonic, Pong, Mario and Arkanoid factories. And to think my mom told me video games came from a Japanese stork. That’s only true for Asian babies, silly!

Hit the jump for the rest, and the link to see the shots in high-res.
